This term of work we are studying pop art and the artist Andy Warhol. We had to pick and artwork from Andy Warhol to appropriate and create layers of meaning into modern day society. I decided to choose the Campbell Soup can and make it a parody of the work into modern day. When thinking of the meaning of the soup can I thought they were stacked on shelves in supermarkets. I thought in modern day society you don't see soup cans as often but you regularly see 2 minute noodles in a cup.

At the start of my appropriation I decided to start with the original soup can and gradually change the colours over time. After going halfway down the page and the colours of the soup can being similar to the colour of the maggi noodle cup I decided to change it to Maggi Noodles. Continuing with the theme of changing the colours and I continued to do so until I reached the original noodles. When creating this I was using the postmodern frame to create the style of work

The meaning of my work is how Campbell soup is starting to not be as popular and slowing being taken over by Maggi Noodles on the shelves. In the 1960s the store shelves were stocked with Tomato Soup and lots of different flavors. Now less of these can of soup are stocked on the shelves and replaced with different brand and flavors of 2 minute noodles. Therefore the appropriation stands for the replacement of campbell soup and the new popularity of noodles.
